Since November 4, 2020, the Ethiopian federal army has continued its offensive in the northern region of the country, with the objective of putting down the dissent of the Tigray People's Liberation Party.

The city of Mekele, a stronghold of the TPLF, is now under siege by army tanks and aerial bombardments.

In a few weeks, what Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed had presented as a "law enforcement operation" turned into a fratricidal war with the hints of ethnic conflict between Tigrayans and Amharas.

Publicity

The operation is being carried out in complete secrecy while all communications have been cut.

The only witnesses to this war under the cover of lead: more than 40,000 people have found refuge in neighboring Sudan.

Conflict in Tigray, on the road of the exiles in Sudan, the voices of a silent war.

A great report by Eliott Brachet.
