this Friday from the town hall of Robert Ménard (various right).

In the name of secularism, it has been sued by the prefecture for several years.

The public will be able to see it from December 4, but no inauguration is planned, due to health measures related to the fight against Covid-19.

A "Nativity scene"

The crèche will be installed in the main courtyard, which is located before the entrance hall of the town hall.

“In addition to the traditional Nativity scene, we will find there a little the atmosphere of the scrubland of the upper townships”, we read in an article entitled “Thus be it”, in the

Journal du Biterrois.

The new number of the institutional newspaper of the agglomeration and the town hall was broadcast this Friday morning on the Twitter account of the community of municipalities, chaired by Robert Ménard.

For several years, Robert Ménard has been opposed to the Hérault prefecture, within the framework of the installation of the Christmas crib.

In 2017, justice had ordered him to withdraw it.

The chosen one had moved him ... a little further, in a town hall.

In 2018, rebelote: justice had once again ordered him to remove his crib.

In 2019, several associations and elected officials were indignant at the installation of a nursery in Béziers.

“This game is dangerous!

(…) We are attached to respect for secularism which guarantees civil peace and freedom of conscience to all, they scolded.

We reaffirm our attachment to the values of the Republic, of secularism, and our refusal for religions to be used for political ends.

The crib is a religious sign which must be removed from the town hall, the law of 1905 must be respected.
