Can Santa Claus travel safely through the country and hand out gifts in times of the corona pandemic?

A boy in Great Britain asked himself that and wrote a letter to Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

"Dear Mr. Johnson, (...) I was wondering if you and the government had thought that Santa Claus could come this Christmas," worried eight-year-old Monti in a letter that Johnson published on Twitter.

"If we leave hand sanitizer with the biscuits, can he come?" Suggested the boy.

"I understand that you are very busy, but could you and the scientists please talk about it," wrote Monti.

Johnson complied with the boy's request and other children concerned about the festival and replied, "I called the North Pole and can assure you that Santa Claus is ready and waiting - as are Rudolph and the other reindeer."

Nobody's health is in danger if Santa Claus behaves responsibly as usual and works quickly and safely, wrote the British Prime Minister in his response published on Wednesday.

He praised Monti for his idea: "Putting hand sanitizer next to the biscuits is an excellent idea to help prevent the virus from spreading." The UK is said to have more than 65,000 Covid-19 deaths on the death certificate the countries hardest hit by the pandemic in Europe.
