On November 25, many local intangible cultural heritages appeared in Taining Ancient City in Taining County, Fujian Province.

Among them, Nuo dance, known as the "living fossil" of folk dances, attracted crowds of spectators.

I saw the Nuo dancers put on various masks, the sound of wooden fish and the sound of gongs and drums intersect, and the team members held small drums and mallets in their hands, jumping back and forth, the dance was simple and rough, and the ancient mystery breath rushed over.

According to Yan Jianhua, the inheritor of Taining Dayuan Nuo dance intangible heritage techniques, Nuo dance can be traced back to the Yin and Shang dynasties and is a witch dance used to exorcise evil spirits.

After a long period of inheritance and development, Nuo dance has now become a ritual for villagers to pray for good harvest, good weather, and exorcise evil and avoid disasters. It is usually held during the Spring Festival, spring plowing and sowing in the May lunar calendar, and autumn harvest in October.
