While the second confinement will begin its first phase of relief on Saturday, TF1 devotes its antenna, from 10:45 am, to health news with a special program "The French face the virus".

While containment will ease with entry into stage 1, TF1 will offer a special Covid-19 broadcast on Saturday morning, according to information from Europe 1. From 10:45 am, the front page will be live with

The French facing the virus

.

The head of the group's political service, Adrien Gindre, will be in charge.

He will give the floor to the French on the ground, in Paris and in the provinces, to see what they expect and what they are asking themselves questions.

He explains it Thursday morning on Europe 1.

Respond to concerns

The channel wants to confront these concerns and questions with the ideas and responses of politicians.

TF1 wishes to open a debate and see who proposes what, on the side of the majority but also of the opposition.

There will therefore be representatives of several political parties on the plateau.

"Saturday is the day the businesses reopen so the show will start with that, those who reopen and those who do not reopen yet", reveals Adrien Gindre, before listing some of the questions they will answer.

"What does it mean to have the right to move 20 km for 3 hours? Are the French going to change the way they spend the end of year celebrations?

What should we think of the forced isolation of Covid-19 patients? Vaccination? "

"Everyone has an idea, but these are also subjects of debate. So we are going to listen to what the French say about it and what the politicians say about it", adds the head of the political service of the TF1 group.

The choice of TF1 rather than LCI

A show that we could have expected on LCI, but for Adrien Gindre it was important to broadcast it on TF1.

"LCI is of course there to deal with all the subjects of debate, permanently. But there are subjects of debate important enough to justify that we can also deal with them on TF1", he explains to us.

"TF1 is the event channel. And we consider that here, we are in a moment of event."

The aim is also, thanks to TF1, to reach as many people as possible.

"TF1's mission cannot be reduced to simply giving the floor to the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister. It is also our responsibility to keep the democratic debate alive in the country," adds Adrien Gindre.

"We make it live on LCI all day long. We must also bring it to life at very specific times on TF1."

A strong expectation from the French

TF1's desire to reach a large number of French people also stems from an observation: viewers never tire of information on Covid-19.

"There is a huge expectation from the French on everything related to the current crisis. We can see it in our newspaper audiences (1 p.m., 8 p.m., weekends ...", explains Adrien Gindre. "I think there is still a lot expectation and appetite of our viewers and that we are far from having covered all the questions. "

The choice to schedule a special show on a Saturday at 10:45 am is justified, according to the head of the group's political service.

"This weekend time when people are still confined, where they can be partly at home, in front of the television, it is a moment which can be favorable to ask oneself", he explains.

"We see in reality that, whatever the time and the day on which there have been speeches in recent weeks, there was an interest. So, we made the bet to see what will be the interest this Saturday morning . It's new, it's a test for us. "
