Shaking off the harsh responsibility of managing the pandemic and claiming in the first person the grateful distribution of funds and vaccines:

this advantageous way of understanding politics

is part of Sánchez's personality, always more attentive to his image in the short term than to the long look and the general interest.

The Government has drawn up a decree that considerably reduces administrative controls and allows subsidies to be awarded to companies individually and without competition.

It is true that

businessmen themselves had asked to eliminate

bureaucratic obstacles

to receive the money, aware that Spain is at the bottom of the EU countries in terms of spending structural funds: of them it has only managed to absorb and invest 33%.

For this reason, the official objective of the new decree is to quickly execute and distribute the new transformation fund.

But remove the controls and conditions for

proportionally increase Sánchez's discretionary power

It does not seem the most prudent idea, given the antecedents. Deadlines are reduced, the obligation to present previously mandatory Treasury reports is eliminated, the need to motivate urgency in administrative decisions is removed, the way of direct subsidies is paved.

We are facing a

Covert and express reform of the Administration under the alibi of the pandemic

.

When another step is taken in the deterioration of institutional counterweights, based on the exceptional nature of the situation and on the excuse of agility, history shows that reversing it is highly unlikely.

Power never voluntarily gives up having more power.

Especially when the decree provides an unprecedented spending capacity to the hard core of Moncloa, although it formally falls to an inter-ministerial commission.

It will be the triumvirate formed by Sánchez, Redondo and Iglesias that will personally manage billions of euros, which inclines

its distribution towards political and electoral criteria rather than technical

.

The leader of Podemos had been sidelined at first, but his angry protest was immediately attended by Sánchez, who proceeded to include him in the decision-making team, in a new pulse lost by the social democratic faction of the Government.

María Jesús Montero lied when speaking of a "draft" to justify the lurch: what happened is that Iglesias was furious when he was excluded and forced Sánchez to readmit him. Moncloa will now have exclusively a very powerful weapon to subdue wills, to attract large companies and finance exactly those projects that contribute to their maintenance in power, the only proven motive for sanchismo.

In this context, clientelism is not that it is a risk: it is that it seems the same objective

.

Only the extraordinary control procedure or handbrake agreed by the countries of the Union can already control the distribution criteria of our social-popular Executive.

If Spain does not manage to spend these funds well, it will definitely lose the train of modernizing our production model.

This is no time to think about the short dribble and the next election.

But unfortunately the profiles that have just secured control of the funds do not allow us to be optimistic;

rather they lead us to think of a

reissue of shoemaking

and his huge response to the last crisis.
