COVID health instructions for spectators -

MASTAR / SIPA

  • The operators of the cinemas affirm it: they are ready to receive the public.

  • A ticket time-stamping system will allow the evening session to be kept.

  • The programming should be as diverse as it is of good quality for the holiday season.

A big sigh of relief.

This is how cinema operators welcomed the presidential announcement of the reopening of cinemas on December 15.

If the “health objectives are achieved”, ie if the cap of 5,000 contaminations per day is not exceeded during this period.

Stopped since October 29, and after three months of closure in the spring, the professionals really needed this good news.

And the president of the National Federation of French Cinemas to explain that 25 million spectators had returned to the cinema after the first confinement without the slightest cluster being to be deplored in the theaters.

"Compliance with health instructions with wearing a mask, hydroalcoholic gel, distance and barrier gestures is essential," he says.

The evening session preserved

There are many reasons to be happy for Richard Patry and his colleagues.

The government finally accepted the principle of time-stamped tickets allowing the 8pm session to be kept.

“We proposed this system during the first curfew,” he recalls.

Seeing it adopted is beneficial: it means that spectators will be able to go to the show after work or after their races, and then return home legally.

»A godsend when we know that this famous evening session is one of the busiest.

No clutter

On the programming side, the news is also excellent.

“Last year, we had sixty-three new feature films released in December,” says Richard Patry.

This year, we should only have about ten.

There will therefore be no congestion in the rooms.

»December 15, D-day of the reopening, will be devoted exclusively to works briefly released on October 28, such as

Boy

by Nicolas Maury.

"We are also committed to resume films whose career was suddenly stopped and they will thus be able to continue to exist", insists Richard Patry.
