The curve of

coronavirus

infections

in Spain remains in the same line as in recent days.

This is reflected in the report updated this Tuesday by the Ministry of Health, which reveals 537 deaths and 12,228 new positives since yesterday, a figure slightly higher than that communicated in Monday's count, but very far from the data published at the end of October. and at the beginning of this month (when it reached 25,000 daily infections).

In yesterday's Health document, 25,886 people were infected since the previous Friday, an

average of 8,600 a day

.

The new registered cases add up to a total of 1,594,844 Spaniards infected by the virus since the start of the pandemic.

The cumulative incidence (cases per 100,000 inhabitants)

continues to decline

, although slowly.

Today it is at 362.35 while yesterday it was at 374.52.

Madrid, which reached very worrying figures in the second wave of the pandemic, today has the

lowest accumulated incidence in the peninsula

, with 271.72, a figure slightly higher than yesterday, with 270.18.

Only the islands show less cumulative incidence (206.71 Balearic Islands and 76.39 Canary Islands).

The official count has

also

reported

537 new deaths

, a new

record in this second year

.

Until now, the highest figure had occurred on November 17, when 435 deaths were recorded in one day.

Therefore, the global death toll rises to 43,668.

With the death date of the last week, Health counts 1,232 deaths.

Despite the fact that contagions are subsiding,

the curve of the deceased is increasingly worrying

.

So far, November has been the black month for this second wave.

If the figures are compared with those reported a month ago, it can be seen that deaths

have doubled

.

In this sense, on October 23, in full rise in this period of the pandemic (infections were already around 20,000 a day), Health registered 655 deaths throughout that last week, half of the 1,232 reported in these last seven days.

Although all regions have increased the number of deaths during the last month,

the case of Asturias

stands out

,

which, after reporting 27 deaths today

(its worst figure in the entire pandemic)

has almost quintupled this parameter in the last 30 days.

Thus, compared to the 141 notified today, between October 16 and 23, the community accumulated a total of 27 deaths.

In the opposite case is Madrid.

The measures established in the region seem to have had an effect: it has gone from being the region that caused the most concern a month ago to having

one of the lowest death toll in the country

.

While in the last week it has reported 32 deaths, a month ago the figure was 131, the highest then of all the communities.

The majority of the deceased continues to be concentrated in Andalusia (221 in the last week), Castilla y León (167), Asturias (141), Aragón (129) and Valencia (108).

Very close to one hundred are Galicia, which scores 83;

and the Basque Country, with 82. For its part, Murcia adds 47 deaths during this period of time;

Castilla La Mancha, 45;

Navarra, 43;

Extremadura, 42;

Madrid, 32;

and Canarias and La Rioja, 15. Below the 10 deaths are Ceuta, which points to seven;

Cantabria, six;

Melilla, three;

and the Balearic Islands, two.

Of the more than 12,000 positives reported today,

4,584 correspond to diagnostic tests

performed in the last 24 hours (compared to 2,344 on Monday).

Most of them in Madrid (1,029), Catalonia (954) and the Basque Country (520).

Canary Islands and Balearic Islands, with the lowest incidence

The

national average of the accumulated incidence

(AI) -number of cases diagnosed per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days- continues for the second consecutive day below 400 infections (specifically, 362).

Castilla y León (649), Asturias (579), the Basque Country (577), Ceuta (536), La Rioja (534), Melilla (530) are located above 500.

With an AI of less than 100 positives, there is only the Canary Islands (76).

The second community with this lowest parameter is Baleares (206).

Regarding hospitalizations,

3,551 people have been admitted in the last seven days

(on Monday, 3,607).

A large part of them in Andalusia, Castilla y León and Asturias: 738 the first, Castilla y León the second and 451 the third.

Of these 3,551 patients, 286 have been transferred to intensive care in the same period of time and 130 since yesterday.

Thus, the total number of patients who have required this hospital unit grows to 15,626.

To date, 16,701 patients are admitted to the country.

More than half of them correspond to Catalonia (3,315), Andalusia (2,758), Madrid (2,056) and Castilla y León (1,528).

France and Russia, the European countries with the most infections

At the European level, Spain continues in third place in number of infections.

France and Russia are the only countries that surpass it, the first with a total of 2,144,660.

Russia, very closely, reports 2,114,502.

In fourth and fifth position are

the United Kingdom and Italy

, with 1,527,495 and 1,471,795 positives, respectively.

The United Kingdom is also the country with the most deaths since the beginning of the pandemic, already registering 55,230.

Italy is behind, exceeding 50,000 (50,453, 630 in the last day), and France (49,232) is very close behind, just ahead of Spain (43,668).

Regarding the AI of the European countries with the most reported infections, Austria remains in the lead with a runaway level of 992 positives, although it is an improvement compared to the data recorded yesterday (997).

However,

the improvement is even more noticeable in Switzerland,

which has gone from an AI of 913 cases this Monday, to 712 today.

Other countries that exceed an incidence of 700 infections are Italy (789), Poland (772) and Portugal (754).
