100 employees of the Community Development Authority in Dubai participated in the campaign "We communicate and protect", launched by the authority in cooperation with the Dubai Police General Command, during the spread of the Corona pandemic, with the aim of protecting and caring for senior citizens and residents in the Emirate of Dubai, and securing their requirements during the home quarantine period .

Through the efforts of a team of employees and volunteers, the campaign contributed to reaching more than 19,489 senior citizens and residents in the Emirate of Dubai, recording their data, and identifying their needs. The campaign also distributed food and sterilization materials, and provided psychological support services with the participation of 14 doctors and specialists. Psychologically, and 157 field volunteers, on more than 11,400 of the target group.

The campaign, in cooperation with the Health Authority, the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, and a large number of government and private institutions, educated more than 130,000 elderly people in Dubai about the best protection from the Coronavirus, which greatly contributed to reducing the number of infections among this group.

The Director General of the Authority, Ahmed Julfar, said that the campaign shed light on the best side of the crises and demonstrated, through the great solidarity between members of society, self-denial and the sincere work of the Authority’s employees and volunteers, the importance of cohesion among community members, to overcome challenges and get out of them with the best experiences, and adapt to circumstances The changing and unexpected, to which society may be exposed.

He stressed that despite the shift to working remotely during the spread of the pandemic, the authority’s employees were like a beehive that did not rest or tire despite the risks of infection, out of their keenness to protect the elderly of various nationalities and provide them with the necessary supplies during this period, as well as devising all means to alleviate their suffering By constantly communicating and providing psychological support.

He added, "The campaign has allowed us to communicate well with a wide spectrum of this segment, and to know their needs, which will allow us to develop future programs that meet their aspirations, enhance their happiness and protect them."

A virtual honoring event was implemented for the employees participating in the campaign, reviewing the campaign’s achievements, listening to the proposals of the participants and some stories they encountered during the spread of the "pandemic".
