For eighteen years, she has stood in the middle of the Monocle crossroads, in Tarbes.

But soon, the statue of the "Prancing Horse", to which the inhabitants of the Hautes-Pyrénées prefecture are used, will disappear.

It will be debunked, not for work or because of a historical controversy, but because it is a… counterfeit.

The municipality of Gérard Trémège (LR) indicated that it had received a letter from a lawyer a few weeks ago.

He told her "that the statue of the" Prancing Horse "was in reality a gross counterfeit of the sculpture" The Fountain of Horses "by the artist Frédéric Jager".

The latter "claimed a large sum in damages or the withdrawal of the sculpture", explains the town hall in a press release.

Purchased 30,000 euros in 2002, during the Mayors' Fair, the bronze sculpture by Christian Maas therefore risked costing the city of Tarbes much more.

To avoid going to court, the town hall therefore decided to remove this statue.

But the base will not remain empty for long.

A call for projects will be launched.

And as a tribute to Haras de Tarbes, the horse should certainly be honored by this work.

Original this time around.
