The prizes will be awarded during a live gala from Södra teatern in Stockholm.

In the three categories of subjects, children and youth and fiction, a total of 18 books have been nominated.

The program is led by Yukiko Duke and Jenny Jägerfeld.

Textbook:

Elin Anna Labba is this year's winner of the August Prize for the Swedish non-fiction book of the year.

She is praised for the book The gentlemen put us here: On forced relocations in Sweden.

The book is about the forced relocations of reindeer herding Sami, which began a hundred years ago and lasted until the 1950s, something that is still an open wound for many victims.

From the beginning, the book was a digging into Elin Anna Labba's own family history.

But over a seven-year period, the project grew to include more victims.

In the book, she has collected stories, photos, letters and yoke texts from those who experienced the forced relocations, something that according to the August Prize jury's nomination motivation sheds new light on a dark part of Sweden's history.

Children's and youth book:

Kristina Sigunsdotter and Ester Eriksson win this year's August Prize in the category Swedish Children and Youth Book of the Year for Humlan Hansson's secrets.

The book Humlan Hansson's secrets is about eleven-year-old Humlan who, after a two-week absence from school, due to chickenpox, has his everyday life overturned.

Her best friend has abandoned her for the horse girls, at the same time her aunt and idol Fanny has ended up on the psyche.

The August Prize jury writes in the motivation for the nomination that it is a book that balances existential pain and humor, with a text by Kristina Sigunsdotter that is twisted and rarely alive, while the illustrations by Ester Eriksson capture Humlan's artistic soul.

Little August Prize:

The Little August Prize goes to Nanna Mikkelsen from Södra Sandby who wrote Offret.

The Little August Prize is a writing competition for young people between 16 and 20 years old.

The text is continuously updated.

The gala starts at 4.30 pm.
