According to the British government, the coronavirus lockdown

in

England

will end as planned next week.

Shops, hairdressers, beauty salons and gyms could reopen from December 2nd, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed to parliamentarians on Monday.

According to the government's will,

the

four-week lockdown

will be followed by local restrictions based on a three-stage system.

The levels depend on the extent of the corona outbreaks in the respective regions.

A similar system was already in place in October;

however, the measures have now been tightened.

Scientific advisors to the government had said the October requirements were insufficient to prevent the virus from spreading further.

Residents will probably only find out how their region is classified in the course of the week.

According to the government, much of the country will be in the two highest levels.

With a

7-day incidence

of

136

, the United Kingdom is still as affected by the pandemic as Germany (143).

Positive news comes from

Austria

, which currently has by far the highest incidence of the pandemic in Europe.

As the Interior Ministry reported on Monday, 3145 new positive tests were counted within 24 hours.

The day before there were over 5000 new cases.

The numbers are usually lower on Monday because less data is transmitted on the weekend.

Currently 4,548 people are being treated in the hospital for Covid-19, 685 of them in intensive care units.

So far, 2,459 people in Austria have died as a result of the virus.

Health Minister Rudolf Anschober sees the first positive signs: "We notice in the first steps that it is slowly starting to work".

The country had again reduced public life to minimum operation seven days ago.

The second hard lockdown is valid until December 6th.

new cases were transmitted

within 24 hours

, as the RKI announced on Monday morning.

10,824

The numbers are comparatively low on Sundays and Mondays because, according to the RKI, fewer samples are taken on the weekend and therefore fewer tests are performed overall.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the RKI has counted a total of

929,133

detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 in Germany (as of November 23, 00:00).

The number of deaths related to the virus rose

90 as of

Monday

to a total of

14,112

.

The RKI estimates that around

618,800

people have now recovered.

According to the RKI situation report on Sunday, the so-called seven-day R was

1.03

(previous day:

1.07

).

This means that, on average, every person who is infected with SARS-CoV-2 infects approximately one more person.

The value represents the occurrence of the infection 8 to 16 days ago.

If it is below 1.0 for a long time, the infection rate subsides.
