Investigation into the cause of the sinking of a passenger ship on a school trip begins Kagawa November 21, 13:48

On the 19th, the Japan Transport Safety Board began investigating the cause of an accident in which a passenger ship carrying 62 elementary school students on a school trip off the coast of Kagawa Prefecture ran into shallow water and sank.

On the 19th, in an accident in which a passenger ship sank off the coast of Sakaide City, Kagawa Prefecture, on a school trip, 62 elementary school students in Sakaide City were rescued.

The ship sank into the sea about 20 minutes after the report, many children jumped into the sea from the ship and waited for rescue, and some children waited for rescue on the flooded ship.

In this accident, the Takamatsu Maritime Security Department made a mistake in business, saying that the captain of Takamatsu City, Yosuke Tada (45), sailed a passenger ship without fully confirming the existence of rocky areas and sank in shallow water. I was arrested on suspicion of traffic danger.

The Japan Coast Guard is searching for a passenger ship operator and investigating safety management, and on the 21st, released a new photo of a rock with something like paint on a passenger ship found near the site.

In this accident, the Japan Transport Safety Board also dispatched three ship accident investigators and started the investigation by visiting the Sakaide Maritime Security Office on the morning of the 21st.

In the future, we will proceed with interviews with the captain and publish a report summarizing the causes of the accident.

Mitsuru Koga, an investigator of the Japan Transport Safety Board, said, "I think this is a socially impactful accident. I would like to find out the cause by listening to the people who were on board at that time."

Is it sinking after riding on a rock?

The Takamatsu Coast Guard has released a photo of a rock taken on the morning of the 20th near the sea area where a sunken passenger ship reported that the ship was "flooded".

The rock in the photo is about 6 meters in diameter, and there are multiple white lines on the surface parallel to the measure of the diver.

According to the Japan Coast Guard, these white lines are very similar in color to the paint on the sunken passenger ship, and the Japan Coast Guard believes that they were attached when the passenger ship hit the rock.

Since there are some scraped marks in the center of this rock, the Japan Coast Guard is investigating the details of how it seems to have sunk after the passenger ship got on the rock.
