This device had already been put in place during the first confinement.

The government announced on Friday that it had reached an agreement with Umih, the main hotel organization, for the accommodation of homeless people in the context of the health crisis linked to the coronavirus.

This agreement "allows the sheltering in hotels of homeless people through the purchase of overnight stays from establishments by state services or authorized associative structures," said the Ministry of Housing in a press release.

During the first confinement, 13,000 places were opened

"Succeeding" to the agreement signed on March 23 during the first confinement, "this new version includes a number of improvements: the proposed rates, capped, systematically include hotel services (linen, maintenance of rooms and common areas) , are homogeneous throughout the territory, and the layout of the establishments is facilitated for the professionals who accompany the people accommodated ”, it is specified.

No figure on the number of rooms that will be mobilized by the device has yet been communicated, but "at the height of the crisis" during the first confinement, "up to 13,000 places were opened, in 79 departments" , indicates the ministry of Emmanuelle Wargon.

Following the opening on October 17 of the Winter Plan and the entry into force of the reconfinement, "in recent weeks, the needs of the territories have grown, making it necessary to renew this agreement".

During the first confinement, "the occupancy of hotels was carried out peacefully in almost all cases and, in the general opinion, this exceptional mobilization of all the actors made it possible to come to the aid of people previously. not known to the help services or refusing to use them ”.

The interministerial delegation for housing and access to housing (DIHAL) will be responsible for monitoring this system, "in particular to ensure coordination with the Housing First plan, by facilitating as much as possible outputs to housing for people accommodated, ”said the press release.
