[Explanation] Recently, an ancient tomb from the Eastern Han Dynasty was discovered on a construction site in Dezhou, Shandong. More than 1800 years ago, the tomb door and painted murals in the tomb are still clearly visible.

According to an archaeological expert from the Shandong Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, this kind of brick chamber tomb with decorative murals is of great significance to the study of the history of the Eastern Han Dynasty.

[Explanation] On November 20th, the reporter saw at the archaeological site that the two tombs were laid out on the central axis, with the tombs facing south, and the tombs were aligned and distributed side by side.

One tomb was nearly 20 meters long and 6 meters wide, and the other was 16 meters long and 4 meters wide.

Based on the shape of the tombs, combined with the unearthed green-glazed pottery, pottery, pottery bowl, copper ring and other funerary objects, archaeologists judged that these two tombs belonged to the family tombs of the late Eastern Han Dynasty, and the tomb owners might have a certain status at that time.

According to Zhao Fangchao, head of the site at the Shandong Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, the two tombs were discovered in June this year.

The excavator found an ancient tomb in the process of extracting soil. They stopped at that time and reported it. Our Shandong Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology conducted on-site surveys. Through surveys, we found that these two buildings were slightly larger in late Eastern Han Dynasty. Han tomb.

According to our excavations, there was a robbery. It may be an early robbery, because tomb robbery was quite rampant in the late Eastern Han Dynasty, including the Cao Wei period.

[Explanation] The reporter noticed at the scene that the doors and chambers of the two tombs excavated this time have painted murals in red, black, white, blue, etc., with fish patterns, geometric lines, stripes, Plant patterns, diamond patterns, constellations, etc., are mostly distributed in strips.

Zhao Fangchao told reporters that the decorative and wood-like murals discovered this time are of great significance to the study of the social history of the time.

I found that there are many painted murals. Of course, they are not patterns such as character stories, carriages and horses, but mainly painted decorative paintings with wood-like structures.

Especially the location of the tomb door, it has many layers, and the texture of each layer is different. After the tomb door is directly prefabricated, the tomb door is repaired, and it looks like a painted mural as a whole.

[Explanation] Zhao Fangchao said that it is not easy to find Eastern Han tombs in Dezhou, Shandong. Because Dezhou is located in the flooded area of the Yellow River, there are a lot of siltation layers.

These two tombs belong to the Eastern Han Dynasty and are old, and they are nearly 4 meters underground.

Because Dezhou belongs to the flooded area of the Yellow River, the material remains of the entire Han Dynasty are generally buried deep. If it is not for engineering construction, it is difficult to find, and if it is excavated in Dezhou, water may begin to emerge at two to three meters. We are facing a more difficult aspect.

[Explanation] It is understood that the archaeological excavation of the Eastern Han tomb in Dezhou, Shandong has ended. Since the tomb was excavated in a construction site under construction, it is not convenient for the original site to be displayed, so it will be dismantled and protected.
