"Invade social networks, failing to be able to invade the street": the feminist movement #Noustoutes is leading this Saturday an "online" mobilization to "maintain the pressure", a few days before the International Day for the Elimination of Violence to women, Wednesday.

A year ago, during a march of unprecedented magnitude in France, some 150,000 people marched at the call of this collective to say stop to gender-based and sexual violence suffered by hundreds of thousands of women each year in France.

“This year, we are in confinement and we must respect the sanitary instructions.

But if it is no longer a question of going to the street, we propose to maintain the pressure and a high level of mobilization with different tools, ”explained feminist activist Caroline De Haas, member of #Noustoutes.

During the day, online training on supporting victims or education in non-violence and live meetings with activists such as the gynecologist Ghada Hatem, founder of the Maison des femmes de Saint -Denis, lawyer Elisa Rojas, activist for the rights of disabled people, the elected Parisian ecologist and feminist activist Alice Coffin, or Lyes Louffok, defender of the cause of children, were also scheduled.

To put an end to violence, one of the levers, "it's us"

“To put an end to the violence there are two levers.

The first is ambitious public policies which make it possible to carry out prevention, education, training and effectively deal with all victims.

The second is us.

It is up to each and every one to train, to raise awareness, to inform our relatives and friends on these subjects, ”continued Caroline De Haas.

Each year, some 220,000 women experience domestic violence and 93,000 are victims of rape or attempted rape.

At the height of this violence, 146 women were killed by their spouse or ex in 2019, 25 more than the previous year.

The confinement decreed in the spring led to a significant increase in reports of violence suffered by women and children in their homes and harassment and assaults suffered in public spaces.
