For our rendezvous

Tout Sexiquer

, which talks about intimacy and sexuality, we talk to Simon Frankart, creator of the account of "intimate drawings" Petites Luxures, followed on Instagram by 1.3 million subscribers, and which has since widened its playground to facilities, books, clothing and various objects.

A new book, the

Diascope Petites Luxures

was recently released by Hoëbeke editions (20 euros).

In this book-object, we find the essence of Simon Frankart's work: a few black lines, some white, but also an eyecup in the center through which we discover, or rather imagine, an erotic-poetic story.

What to draw in the face of censorship?

How to create an “intimate”, erotic drawing, what is the difference with pornographic drawing?

What choices, when drawing, to suggest passion or the rascal?

What to reveal bodies?

How to deal with the censorship of the American social network, where to place the cursor with its audience?

How do we question the standards?

What about the hair?

We talk about all of this with Simon Frankart in this episode, to listen to in the player above.

Simon Frankart first reveals the background of the name "diascope", then the differences between intimate and pornographic drawing.

He then goes back to the constraints of the Instagram social network, which he still uses to show his work.

Suggest rather than reveal?

The graphic designer recalls that some of his explicit drawings were poorly received by part of his audience.

A reaction he accepts.

“A drawing that is too marked on certain parts of the body, a scene that is a bit 'trashy', that becomes what I don't want.

What I like is that you can look at my drawings without being shocked, and afterwards say to yourself: 'oh yes, but there are three of them in the bed'… ”.

He insists on the place of the imagination to appropriate a story of sex.

“The exciting part [of this story] is the readers making it themselves,” he says.

Simon Frankart also evokes his "feminine" way of drawing his works, and his rather female readership.

He also recalls the history of his logo, "a hand, in a heart, with two fingers entering a gap", before evoking the place of hair in his drawings.
