A group of works concerned with highlighting identity through embroidery presented by Art Dubai in a special virtual exhibition through the official website of Naqsh Group, which is run by Nermin Abudel with her sisters. The exhibition carries a number of their works, in addition to showing a special film about their artistic experience.

Regarding the current exhibition, Nermin Abudel explained the beginning of work on these works and the launch of the Naqsh group with her sisters. She said: “We started our work in embroidery during the Arab Spring as a kind of search for identity and delve into the ancient roots and stories that we used to hear from my grandmother and my father. We are Palestinian and we grew up in Jordan, We liked the stories of embroidery, especially as it carries our heritage. We have gathered a lot of information from encyclopedias and a lot of references for embroidery, and we provided art and three-dimensional pieces.

Abu Dil pointed out that they worked on paintings in which they leave their fingerprints, including paintings that express stories that people live, and tales of many cities that have been abandoned, so their work is part of the documentary work of history and heritage, and the selection of solid materials came from work that there is something that lasts and tells stories for a long time, including Wood, stone and copper are all materials that remain inherited and carry various stories, while the design process carries more than one stage, while the imagination is what determines the work on the nature of the material.

Abudel pointed out that the idea begins through developing the idea by working online, while this work enters the stage of carrying work on machines, and then work on it is done by hand, and thus a kind of connection is formed between thought, research and machines.

Abudel uses more than one layer of copper in designs, and thus forms through it that give the work the real form of embroidery to appear exactly as it appears in real embroidery with threads, indicating that they learned embroidery from their mother's childhood, and that her father's possession of a wood factory made them turn to these pieces. And about Nermin's work with her sister on designs, she noted that she studied design and her sister studied architecture, and this is what made their ideas intersect with each other, and thus they had the ability to get to know each other and the flow of work easily, noting that all of their works are inspired by heritage stories and research that they do. Khayat pointed out that the postponement of the exhibition in 2020 produced a new idea so that a number of galleries were contacted to nominate an artist for whom a special film is being shot, and a group of films were shot on the website of Art Dubai, and each film lasts a minute or two. The Regional Director of Art Dubai, Hala Khayyat, pointed out that there are new programs in "Art Dubai", noting that the renewal for this year will depend on educational meetings in closed halls, while most of the programs will be in the open air, and there will be cooperation with artists, as the artist will be invited. To travel to a specific country to be an ambassador on small missions in Dubai.

Khayat described the exhibition as a meeting of cultural makers, expecting the great success of the next session, because there is an appetite to see works closely, especially since people have stayed in their homes for a long time, and have looked at the walls of their homes and the necessary works and paintings.
