The Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin will propose Thursday to introduce an amendment guaranteeing the freedom of the press in the proposed law "global security", examined in the Assembly and which arouses a controversy around the image of the police officers, his entourage told AFP.

This amendment, which will be proposed during a meeting in the evening with the boss of LREM deputies Christophe Castaner around Prime Minister Jean Castex, will “clarify article 24”, much criticized by opponents of the text, to ensure that “ the freedom of the press is of course in no way threatened, ”the same source added.

Several deputies and members of the majority had demanded in recent days such precision, including Lateitia Avia, Alexandra Louis and Pierre Person.

Although the freedom of the press is already guaranteed by the constitution and the #CEDH, which is directly applicable, this amendment to # article24 of #PPLSecuriteGlobale would perhaps provide an additional guarantee.
