• Diagnosis: Covid is delaying breast cancer diagnosis for six months

  • Solidarity, collaborate here with the fight against cancer

In Spain, one in two people will have some type of cancer in their lifetime.

For this reason and with the aim of eliminating its stigma, the

Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) and the Editorial Unit have signed an agreement to join forces

in the fight against this disease.

During the months of November and December, the Editorial Unit puts its headlines at the service of the AECC with the aim of informing its readers about relevant aspects of cancer.

Risk factors,

advances in research or doubts about the diagnosis of cancer

and its consequences in the day-to-day life of affected families will be some of the contents that Unidad Editorial will make available to the public.

In addition to facilitating greater visibility of tumors and their impact on people's lives,

El Mundo will collaborate with the AECC by contributing 20%

of the amount of each annual premium subscription made in the months of November and December.

This item will go to patient care services to provide support to those who need it most and also to promote research.

With this percentage "we continue working on our social commitment to meet the needs of the population and our global interest in fighting cancer."

Editorial Unit, always aligned against cancer

This is a "very important action for the population", underlines the president of the AECC, Ramón Reyes.

This formula will help to "make cancer visible in a normal and natural way", which although it is "uncomfortable", is "a traveling companion" that must be talked about and made known.

This disease "is one more element of our life and yet it is very silenced in the media."

The agreement with Unidad Editorial provides "

a speaker that we need to reach society

and set an example of how we can help people who are having a hard time", through patient care services and through research.

For his part, Antonio Fernández-Galiano, president of Unidad Editorial, emphasizes the importance of being constant in the fight against this epidemic of the 21st century.

"The vulnerability of the human being against the disease

is fought with method, commitment and effort

. Editorial Unit will always be aligned against cancer", he assures.

Although it is not very good news, the truth is that around 300 people die every day in our country, a mortality burden similar to that of Covid.

"It is a pandemic, but it is silent because it does not have an echo in the media, it represents a taboo subject," argues Reyes, who considers this agreement as an opportunity to eliminate the stigma that cancer carries.
