"Sandu met with the Russian ambassador to Chisinau, Oleg Vasnetsov, through whom she conveyed gratitude to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin for his congratulations, after which the interlocutors discussed the agenda of bilateral relations," TASS quoted the Moldovan Action and Solidarity party led by Sandu.

The second round of presidential elections was held in Moldova on November 15.

According to preliminary data from the Central Election Commission, Sandu won with 57.7% of the vote, while the incumbent head of state Igor Dodon won 42.2%.

On November 16, it was reported that Putin sent a congratulatory telegram to Maya Sandu on the occasion of her election victory.
