Recently, Mr. Wan from Kuhe Village, Zhaoguan Town, Qihe County, Dezhou, Shandong Province, asked the police for help, saying that a "ugly" bird was found near the Yellow River and was suspected of being injured.

Experts later identified this as a young bird of a whooper swan, also called sub-adult, with gray-black feathers. It takes about a year to be like a whooper swan with beautiful white feathers.

Li Cheng, chief of the publicity section of the local public security bureau, said that it is the migration season of whooper swan. This young bird may have consumed too much energy due to diarrhea, which caused it to be alone in Qihe during the migration.

Thanks to Mr. Wan, this swan was saved.

Because the swan is in the wild, experts believe that it may carry some viruses and needs to be isolated and observed.

After the cygnets are almost recovered, they will be placed in the group of whooper swans.
