The Guangdong Coastal Police Bureau reported on November 16 that the Guangdong Coastal Police recently seized a large-scale cigarette smuggling case in Zhanjiang City, seized 1 iron-shell bulk carrier and 8 persons involved, and seized more than 300,000 cigarettes suspected of smuggling on the spot. With a value of nearly 70 million yuan, this case is the largest cigarette smuggling case seized since the establishment of the Guangdong Coastal Police Bureau.

　　At 5 o'clock in the morning on November 6, the Zhanjiang Maritime Police Bureau reported that a ship was suspected of engaging in smuggling activities in the waters near the Qiongzhou Strait.

After receiving the report, the Zhanjiang Maritime Police Bureau immediately verified and analyzed the information, and dispatched the law enforcement boat at the Xuwen Workstation nearest to the target sea area to investigate.

　　At about 10 am, maritime police officers found a suspicious iron-shell bulk carrier in the waters near Hongkan Bay on the Xuwen side of the Qiongzhou Strait, and then approached and called for the ship to stop for inspection.

After the maritime police law enforcement boat was discovered, the suspected ship, instead of showing signs of stopping, accelerated to flee. The law enforcement officers immediately increased their horsepower to catch up and continued to warn them.

　　After more than an hour of thrilling chase, the maritime police law enforcement officers finally stopped the suspected vessel. Due to the storm conditions at the scene, the boarding inspection could not be carried out. The law enforcement officers escorted the suspected vessel back to Xuwen Port for inspection.

　　After investigation, there are 6 cargo holds on the ship. The cabins are equipped with a batch of 26 kinds of smuggled cigarettes from well-known brands at home and abroad, including "China", "Red Panda", "Liqun", "Peony", "Double Happiness" and "ESSE". Carrying relevant legal documents, and failing to provide the legal certificate of the ship and the legal and valid documents of the batch of goods, the Guangdong Coast Guard seized the suspected cigarette smuggling.
