The Cairo International Film Festival announced the details of its 42nd session, which will be held despite the challenges of "Corona". The president of the festival, Mohamed Hefzy, revealed the details of the new session that will be held next December 10, during a press conference.

Hefzy announced that the British writer and screenwriter Christopher Hampton was honored with the "Golden Pyramid Appreciation" award for lifetime achievement, in recognition of his extended career, for which he deserved the Oscars and BAFTAs, in addition to his nomination for the "Golden Globe." In the international competition, three films will participate: “Long Live Captain” by director Mai Zayed, in his first show in the Middle East and Africa, and “Curfew” by Amir Ramses, artist Elham Shaheen and Amina Khalil. The Egyptian film "Anha", directed by Islam Al-Azzazi, is in the international competition in its world premiere as well, and in the Arab Film Horizons competition. The documentary "Peace Upon Peace" by director Nisreen Al-Zayat participates in its world premiere. Five short films, including three in a cinema competition Al-Ghad: “The Man Who Swallowed the Radio,” directed by Yasser Shafi’i, in its world premiere.

Regarding the jury, Hefzy said: “The jury for the 42nd International Competition is headed by the Russian director and screenwriter Alexander Sokorov, who is considered one of the most prominent contemporary directors in Russia. Among the jury members are: Egyptian star Lebleba, Egyptian producer Gabi Khoury, and Brazilian director Karim Enouz. The German director Burhan Qurbani also participates in the committee’s membership, and from Mexico participates in the writing committee, and the actress Nayan Gonzalez Norvind. From Palestine, the director, author and producer Najwa Najjar is participating.

The festival issued a statement announcing its celebration of the centenary of the late Italian director Federico Fellini, one of the most prominent directors in the history of cinema. The festival is also organizing, in cooperation with the Italian Cultural Center, by holding a special photo exhibition for the scenes of his films, by Italian photographer Memo Catarinic, in addition to showing the documentary “Souls Fellini ».
