Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had promised hell to Gambians after being forced to spend the night in a terminal at Banjul airport.

But, this November 16, 2020, rather than the revenge of the superstar of the Gabon team, we especially witnessed the huge ball of his goalkeeper.

In the 51st minute, while Anthony Mfa Mezui tries to clear the ball, the Gabonese goalkeeper misses him completely.

Winger Modou Barrow took the opportunity to grab hold of it and put it at the back of the net: 1-0.

Already unconvincing in the first period, the Panthers completely sink in the second.

The Scorpions push to double the bet and succeed after several misfires, in the 80th minute.

Served in the box, the center forward Musa Barrow thus puts the 2-0 of a flat foot.

An investigation opened by CAF

Short of energy and ideas, the Gabonese selection certainly manages to reduce the score with a header from defender Bruno Ecuela Manga, on a free kick from Denis Bouanga (2-1, 90th).

But she left Gambia with an unfortunate setback, while a victory would have qualified her directly for the next African Cup of Nations (CAN 2021).

Is the unexplained blockage suffered by the Gabonese at the airport for several hours to explain this poor performance?

Still, the African Football Confederation (CAF) has taken up the case, a statement said: "

The Secretary General of CAF clearly deplored this unfortunate situation before informing the two parties of his decision to seize the disciplinary bodies with a view to examining the causes of this incident, establishing responsibilities and applying the consequent sanctions.
