The
TVE News Council
, an independent body representing workers, has issued a statement in which it denounces the drift imposed by
Enric Hernández
in this area of the public corporation since he acceded to the position of Director of Information and News a year ago by direct appointment of
Rosa María Mateo
, sole provisional administrator.
In the note, some of the decisions taken by Hernández at this time are described as "nonsense", he laments the lack of "a clear course" and "an innovative project", and his mandate is valued as "a period with more shadows than lights. "
Among other circumstances, the News Council criticizes "the loss of space for its own news programs in favor of 'current affairs' co-productions with external majority participation".
The difference between the "news" and "current affairs" genres is key in the case of TVE since, by law, the public corporation cannot outsource the production of the former, but that of the latter, whose concept is somewhat diffuse because they mix information and opinion content.
The last case in this trend is the program
Las cosas clear
that TVE will premiere soon in its morning slot.
The space will be directed by
Jesús Cintora
and, as reported by EL MUNDO, it has a team of 25 people from outside the public corporation's staff.
The realization of this space has been entrusted to the company
LACOproducora
,
owned
by
José Miguel Contreras
, founder of
La Sexta
.
The News Council considers this decision "very serious" in its note.
He points out as especially serious that part of this external staff (from the
Maldita Hemeroteca
) has been hired to carry out verification tasks, when in the TVE newsroom there are professionals assigned to the
Verifica RTVE
area
who could well take over this task , without the need to resort to external personnel.
"We believe that it would be a mistake to empty the nucleus of TVE's News Services as Enric Hernández has tried to make with some decisions in his first year in office," denounces the Public News Council, which also recalls how before the Hernández's appointment in 2019 to a new position in the corporation, created by Rosa María Mateo specifically for him, they organized a referendum and received the
rejection of 65% of
the voting
workforce
.
The arrival of Jesús Cintora's new program on the grill has also been received with discomfort by union representatives, who have been willing to bring him to justice, because they consider that
Clear Things
is an informative format that cannot be entrusted to external producers .
Furthermore,
Isabel Cacho
, director of TVE Magazines, has resigned due to disagreement with the decisions of Enric Hernández.
In addition to what happened with
Things Clear
, the News Council lists another series of decisions made by Hernández.
He points out, for example, that the news program
La 2 noticias
has disappeared from the grid.
They also regret the cancellation of a classic format such as
Los breakfasts
and the fact that the political gathering in the morning has been absorbed by the newly created magazine
La hora de La 1
.
In addition, the News Council criticizes the reduction in the broadcasting time of
territorial news programs
and underlines that
The First Question
, one of Enric Hernández's star bets for this season, had to be canceled after only three broadcasts due to the lack of interest from the audience.
