The Minsk talks finally reached an impasse, which, in fact, was clear long before the last meeting of the trilateral contact group.

Boris Gryzlov, the plenipotentiary of Russia to the TCG, has never spoken so harshly about the position of the Ukrainian side.

This time he put the last point, announcing the complete rejection of Kiev from the Minsk agreements.

According to him, the action plan proposed by the Ukrainian delegation completely contradicts the agreements reached.

“A regular meeting of the contact group took place, for which the Ukrainian side was supposed to prepare a draft action plan to resolve the conflict in accordance with the Minsk agreements.

Instead, the Ukrainian delegation presented a completely different project.

The proposals presented by Ukraine completely contradict the Minsk agreements and the Normandy promises of Ukraine.

This is not a joint action project, it is a project aimed at revising the Minsk agreements, ”Gryzlov said.

The fact that the Ukrainian delegation will not sign an agreement on the implementation of the Minsk agreements is hardly news.

The fact that the Minsk agreements are impracticable in the form in which they were drawn up and signed has been publicly spoken by Ukrainian politicians more than once.

The head of the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG, Leonid Kravchuk, said a couple of days ago that the Verkhovna Rada does not refuse the possibility of holding local elections in the territory of the current self-proclaimed Luhansk and Donetsk People's Republics (LPR and DPR) and providing them with opportunities for self-government.

However, this can only happen after their complete demilitarization and transfer to Kiev's control.

However, the Minsk agreements provide for a different sequence of actions.

Control over the border with Russia will be gained by Ukraine only after the adoption of a special status for certain areas of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, enshrining it in the Constitution, a general amnesty and the holding of local elections.

The Ukrainian side demands to reconsider this order.

Oleksiy Reznikov, Minister for the Temporarily Occupied Territories, proposed a new scheme of actions that suits Ukraine.

It looks like this:

1. Disarmament of illegal armed groups in Donbass.

2. Establishment of a regime of complete silence.

3. Withdrawal of all NPFs from the territory of Ukraine.

4. Establishment of Ukrainian control over the eastern border.

5. Conducting elections.

Moscow, through the mouth of Vladimir Putin, has repeatedly stated that there is no alternative to the Minsk agreements and the inadmissibility of their verification.

Ukraine's constant attempts to change the course of action put an end to the possibility of reaching agreement on a basic position.

And this means that Minsk will be replaced by a new project for resolving the problems of Donbass.

It's hard to say what it will be like.

From the multitude of statements by Vladimir Putin on this topic, an unambiguous conclusion can be drawn: Russia intends to continue to support the people's republics.

This means that Ukraine's refusal to comply with the Minsk agreements translates the situation into the plane of other decisions.

I believe that they are completely uncomfortable for Kiev.
