Symptoms that nearly half of the patients are considered to have sequelae even after being discharged from the hospital

When Wakayama Prefecture investigated the health status of people who were hospitalized with the new coronavirus after discharge, nearly half of the respondents answered that they had symptoms that seemed to be sequelae.

This health survey was conducted on people who were hospitalized with the new corona infection by mid-September in Wakayama prefecture, and more than two weeks after discharge, and received responses from 163 people.

According to this, 75 people, 46% of the total, answered that they had symptoms that seemed to be sequelae even after they were discharged from the hospital.

When asked about specific symptoms in multiple answers,

▽ olfactory disorder was the most common in 30 people,

▽ malaise was 26 people,

▽ dysgeusia and dyspnea were 20 people each, and

▽ hair loss was 12 people. ..

People who became severely ill or had pneumonia were particularly more likely to complain of dyspnea and malaise than those who were mild or asymptomatic.

Wakayama Prefectural Health and Welfare Department No * Takako Jiri says that she has more symptoms than she imagined and needs to continue to support her even after she is discharged from the hospital.

He added, "Since the infection is spreading rapidly again, it is important to focus on prevention so as not to suffer from sequelae."
