Sharjah Film Platform lights up its screen tonight

The third edition of the Sharjah Film Platform, organized by the Sharjah Art Foundation, will be launched today.

The new edition will display more than 60 short and feature films in fictional, documentary and experimental categories by filmmakers from the UAE and abroad in cinemas, and on the festival's online platform available to watch from any part of the world.

The event includes a general program of online dialogue sessions to explore contemporary issues in the seventh art, in addition to a group of practical workshops suitable for young and old throughout the festival.

Screenings are organized in the city mirage open-air cinema;

And the iconic flying saucer building;

And on the big screens at City IMAX Cinema, Zero 6 Mall.

The inaugural program will begin this evening with the world premiere of "In the Time of the Revolution" directed by Suha Choucair, and it is one of the films that received the platform for the production of short films for the year 2020. The directors of the other films that received the grant will also give presentations on their films, namely: Nadera Imrani is the director of Hajjah (2021), and the duo, Belen Tan and Anton Feducle, is the director of She Who Saw the Depths (2021).

The opening will also witness the Middle East premiere of the feature-length documentary "Earthquake Focus" (2020), directed by Oscar-nominated Hubert Super, winner of the Grand Prix jury at the Sundance Film Festival.
