The trend is confirmed.
Coronavirus contaminations have decreased slightly for nearly a week in Loire-Atlantique.
The departmental incidence rate is indeed declining (314 cases per 100,000 inhabitants Thursday against 334 Tuesday and 352 Friday), as well as the positivity rate of those tested (14.9% Thursday against 15.6% Tuesday and 16.6% Friday), announces the regional health agency (ARS) of Pays-de-la-Loire.
The evolution is the same in the territory of Nantes metropolis, where the virus was circulating a little more actively than in the rest of the department.
“We can see here perhaps the first effects of the measures put in place,” comments Jean-Jacques Coiplet, regional director of the ARS.
“However, we must not relax the efforts, he insists.
These efforts will hopefully pay off, but now is not the time to relax.
"" We are reaching the tipping point, confirms Pierre Blaise, scientific director at ARS.
Now, are we going to see a simple slowdown in the epidemic?
Or a significant drop?
It is difficult to predict with precision what will happen.

A "time lag" with hospitalizations
Unfortunately, hospitalizations are currently following a reverse trend, that is, they continue to increase.
The same goes for places in intensive care, which are increasingly busy.
“There is a time lag.
What is happening in hospitals today is the result of the incidence rates of 15 days ago.
The effects of the current incidence rates will therefore not appear in the healthcare offer for another 15 days, ”explains Jean-Jacques Coiplet.
In this context, the prefect of Loire-Atlantique, Didier Martin, also calls for "to respect confinement".
It announces a strengthening of controls.
“Less than 10% of checks result in a ticket.
This proves that, on the whole, the rules are well accepted by the citizens.
»No reopening of non-essential businesses envisaged at this stage.
Five road restaurants in Loire-Atlantique will however benefit from an exemption to reopen.
