Even lightened, the second confinement seems to be bearing fruit in France to lower the circulation of the coronavirus.

In Brittany, the director of the Regional Health Agency (ARS) spoke of "a slight very encouraging tremor" observed in recent days.

The region currently has an incidence rate of 182 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants, where the national average exceeds 400 cases.

“The situation is very volatile but for three or four days, the rate is going down.

It is twice lower than the French average.

The region remains relatively spared, ”says Stéphane Mulliez.

As in the first wave, Brittany is therefore able to welcome patients from other regions whose hospital capacity is weakened.

Thirty-two of the 120 medical evacuations carried out in France were directed to Breton health establishments in Brest, Saint-Malo, Morlaix, Lorient, Vannes and Saint-Brieuc.

More affected, the University Hospital Pontchaillou in Rennes was not mobilized.

However, health authorities are keeping a close eye on the number of hospitalizations, which continues to climb.

Since October 1, they have tripled.

As of Friday, 700 patients with Covid-19 were hospitalized in the region, including 120 people in intensive care.

"Thirty-five people in intensive care are under 65 years old," says the director of the ARS.

Since the start of the epidemic, 550 people have died from Covid in the region.

The average age of deceased patients is currently 82 years.
