The production director of the program

, Nicolas Roussel, was indicted on October 7 for “manslaughter” after the death of ten people in the crash of two helicopters on the set in Argentina.

The tragedy, which occurred on March 9, 2015, claimed the lives of several personalities including the sailor Florence Arthaud, the Olympic swimming champion Camille Muffat and the Olympic medalist boxer Alexis Vastine.

The concept of this adventure game, of Swedish origin and which should have been broadcast on TF1, was to put two teams of four athletes in competition.

In the investigation opened in France, the investigating judges first placed Nicolas Roussel as an intermediary witness assisted, as well as ALP, the production company which employed him, specializing in adventure game shows.

Peter Högberg, a Swedish security officer during the filming, was indicted for "manslaughter" in February 2019.

"It's finally the truth that arrives"

According to a source close to the case, the judges accuse Nicolas Roussel of a "serious fault": having underestimated the budget allocated to air resources, having had the pilots and helicopters ultimately involved in the selection based on mainly financial criteria rather than competence. the crash, and not having guaranteed the passengers normal safety conditions for their transport.

This indictment opens the way to a possible implication of ALP.

“Nicolas Roussel, like the ALP teams, remains deeply upset by the accident which cost the lives of their colleagues, pilots and some participants in the show and remain determined to demonstrate that no fault in the organization of the filming cannot be blamed ”, reacted the lawyers of Nicolas Roussel and of the production company, Mathias Chichportich and Pierre-Olivier Sur.

“For all of us, the truth is finally coming.

That's wonderful.

It's a relief, you can't imagine.

It's crazy, ”said Gisèle Gilles, president of the Association of relatives of victims of the Dropped helicopter crash and widow of Edouard Gilles, cameraman who died in the accident.

Several compensation procedures are underway in France.

A criminal investigation is also opened in Argentina.
