In a group where the Democratic Republic of Congo is the designated favorite, the underdog match between Gabon and Gambia took on the appearance of shock between two teams who had collected four points in two days.

The Panthers did not let their luck pass by winning in Libreville to distance themselves from surprising Gambians fighting to the end.

Patrice Neveu's men defeated the Scorpions thanks to their offensive leaders: Denis Bouanga and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The first took advantage of a series of favorable blocks to open the scoring in the 8th minute.

The second doubled the bet by taking a center at the far post (55th) like a good fox surfaces.

The Panthers dominated for a long time before lowering their footing after the hour mark allowing Gambia to be dangerous.

The Scorpions manage to reduce the score by Bubacar Jobe (81), but the Gabonese defense will not give in a second time.

It is an important success for Gabon, absent from the CAN 2019 and which can dream of a return on the big African scene, with a place of leader halfway in these qualifiers.

The Gambians will have the opportunity to take their revenge in Banjul on November 16.

In the meantime, all eyes are

on the favorite of this Pool D

, the DRC, third in the group with only two points in two days.

Saturday 14, the Leopards receive Angola and victory is imperative to revive.
