Certain publications, foremost of which are novels and biographies, attract a remarkable sector of Emirati youth visiting the Sharjah International Book Fair, its 39th session, which will continue until January 14 at the Expo Center Sharjah.

The visitor Abdul-Rahman Al-Naqbi, who wanders between the halls of the exhibition in a cart laden with dozens of books he has bought, said about the type of books that appeal to him. On distinguished titles and publications, it also includes literature, philosophy, and politics, especially those provided by the participating theater platforms, which are difficult to find outside the exhibition.

While the literature of mystery and suspense comes in the ladder of interests of the young Emirati engineer and writer Zayed Al-Marzouki, as it is an art that stirs the reader's feelings and provokes them to continue reading, knowing the events covered by the successive pages, right up to its conclusion.

On the cultural orientations of Emirati youth, Al Marzouki explained that the interests of many readers have shifted to focusing on the cultural dimension of all kinds in light of the encouragement they receive from the government and official bodies, which contributed to highlighting a large number of young writers, writers and poets who have influenced the cultural scene in the country. .

In front of a publishing house whose shelves are replete with translated books, the Emirati visitor, Rashid Ibrahim Taha, turns the pages of one of the novels, stressing that he is interested in real-life novels, and his passion for them is based on the lessons he draws from them.

Not far from Rashid, two young Emiratis stand discussing a book, which turned out to be an English book, which puts the reader - as the young Ayman Ismail Sharaf says - in front of motivational questions that require thinking and research to find the answer.

His friend Amer Muhammad Al-Awadi pointed out that it is the book covers and their designs that attract him to browse and not the author's name or the genre of literature, in addition to his love of reading English poetry.

Abdulrahman Al-Naqbi:

• «I am interested in all kinds of literature, but CVs come in the priority of my interests».

Zayed Al Marzouki:

• Mystery literature and suspense on the ladder of my interests, as it provokes me to continue reading.

• Book covers and their designs attract more readers than the author's name.

The interests of many readers shifted to focus on the cultural dimension in its various colors.
