Singer, author of his own words and novelist, Gaël Faye has several strings to his bow.

It is as a singer that the 38-year-old artist came to present his new album, "Lundi méchant", released a few days ago, at the microphone of Philippe Vandel in the program "Culture Médias", on Europe 1 .

INTERVIEW

Mal Monday

is the title of Gaël Faye's new album.

The singer and also author of the autobiographical novel

Petit Pays

, was the guest on Tuesday, Philippe Vandel in

Culture Médias

to discuss the release of this new album and his future tour which is planned, according to him, to "dance and think".

A song in pictures

The Franco-Rwandan artist, who grew up in Burundi when his parents were forced to flee the Rwanda genocide of 1994, likes to mix the mediums on which he speaks.

After the global success of the novel,

Petit Pays

, which tells of his childhood, he embarked on the illustration of the song,

L'ennui des afternis sans fin,

which appears in this new album, with the help of designer Hippolyte.

This comic "is a bit like a safe for the imagination, that is to say that boredom is the moment in childhood when you can develop your imagination", describes Gaël Faye.

A collaboration with Christiane Taubira

In

Wicked Monday

, one of the songs was written with the woman of letters and former Keeper of the Seals, Christiane Taubira.

At the microphone of Europe 1, he tells of a crushing encounter, which led to the song

Alone and Vanquished

: "She was sitting next to me at the cinema. I suggested that she set one of her poems to music, because I knew she was writing about it and it was a great collaboration. Really amazing. "

And even if Gaël Faye has just released an album, he has already been working on a new novel for several months, of which he will not reveal anything for the moment.

"I'm quite superstitious, I don't prefer to talk too much about the novel in its construction because afterwards, I have the impression of freezing it", breathes the artist.
