Whereas it had been neglected by the great powers for decades following the Apollo missions, the Moon today seems to be

the place to be

.

United States, China, Russia, European Union, India, Japan, Israel… Many players are embarking on a new race towards the lunar star, with in mind not only exploration, but exploitation.

Because if the old Space Treaty (1967) forbids appropriating a part of the celestial universe, it is much more vague concerning the resources coming from this universe.

Water, Helium 3, a particularly rare fuel, but also regolith, from which we could extract oxygen, or rare metals ... There are many things to be recovered on the Moon, whether for the committed powers or for the private companies on which they are based.

This possible future trade war would also make it possible, if the human being manages to establish a lasting presence on the Moon, to see further.
