At the request of the parents of pupils, last week, two mayors of the Lot department had decided to take municipal decrees exempting children in elementary schools from wearing a mask.

A decision that went against the measures decreed by the government to fight against the circulation of the coronavirus.

Faced with what it judged to be a "manifestly illegal decision, and within the framework of the administrative control exercised by the State on the territorial communities", the prefecture had decided to seize Friday evening, the administrative court of Toulouse in order to request the suspension and cancellation of these decrees of Cahus and Laval-de-Cère.

Two days later, "the two mayors decided to repeal their decrees," said the prefect of Lot in a press release.

For his part, he withdrew the appeals lodged with the Toulouse Administrative Court and once again calls on "everyone to show responsibility and to ensure respect for the barrier gestures that allow us to protect us collectively".
