  Since 1961, Hong Kong has conducted a census every ten years, and a mid-term population census has been conducted between the two censuses.

Hong Kong conducted population censuses in 1961, 1971, 1981, 1991, 2001 and 2011, and conducted mid-term population statistics in 1966, 1976, 1986, 1996, 2006 and 2016.

The census to be conducted in 2021 is the seventh census in Hong Kong.
