According to the National Police Agency, the number of transactions reported to the government by businesses that provide electronic payment services as suspected of money laundering was 3,913 in the last year.



Compared to the previous year, there were 2522 more cases, a 2.8-fold increase.



In addition to the method of hiding the profit of the crime by repeating the remittance or diversifying the funds in a short period of time, the funds are once transferred to the third party account collected by the criminal group through the recruitment site etc. A technique called "money mule" has also been confirmed.



With the advancement of cashless payments, electronic payment services such as "PayPay" and "docomo account" have become widespread, and the amount of such transactions amounts to approximately 2.34 trillion yen per year.



Police authorities are working with relevant agencies to increase crackdowns and vigilance.
