Magnus von Horn's film "Sweat" about influencers and Andrea Segre's "Molecules" are part of the so-called focus section at the Gothenburg Film Festival in February.

Last year's festival was held just before the outbreak of the pandemic.

Ahead of next year's festival, the festival management has now decided to offer both cinema screenings - in accordance with current restrictions - and digital screenings at the audience's home.

In addition, the festival 2021 will also focus in terms of content on the world that has emerged with covid-19.

Among other things, they want to investigate the cinematic experiments made based on the limitations of the pandemic.

Distance and solidarity

The selected films will provide perspective on "transformative emotional experiences of, among other things, distance, suspicion and solidarity that have shaped us and our communities over the past year", emphasizes Jonas Holmberg, artistic director of the Gothenburg Film Festival in a press release.

The festival runs from January 29 to February 8.

This year's festival will be held without parties, concerts and seminars.

The film program itself will also be smaller than usual.
