Do what I say ... The Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, was, Sunday, in his stronghold of Tourcoing, near Lille, in the North.

According to our colleagues from

La Voix du Nord

, he was seen jogging well beyond the distance of one kilometer authorized as part of the confinement to fight against the coronavirus.

Gérald Darmanin's residence is located in the city center of Tourcoing.

However, it was on the banks of the Roubaix canal that he was seen on Sunday while he was doing his morning jog.

Normally, that wouldn't be a problem.

But in this period of confinement, the government has been very clear on the rules to follow when leaving home.

The ministry advances security constraints

If the practice of sport is not prohibited, it is nevertheless constrained in space and time.

On the derogatory travel certificate, mandatory, it is written that "individual physical activity" is authorized within the framework of "short trips near his home, within the limit of one hour per day and within a maximum radius of one kilometer ".

However, even as the crow flies, the Minister was well over a kilometer from his home, which did not mean that he was fined.

Asked by several media on this subject, the Ministry of the Interior justified itself by advancing security constraints.

Letting the Beauvau tenant run right in the center of the town of Tourcoing would expose him to a possible “aggression of opportunity”.

Gérald Darmanin's security service therefore preferred the Roubaix canal sector, which is less frequented and closed to traffic.
