The Covid-19 epidemic was invited to the hospital of Carhaix (Finistère) where a cluster was discovered, we learned on Wednesday from the CHRU of Brest on which the establishment depends.

"At the last assessment, we have 18 professionals and six residents" tested positive, said Eric Stindel, president of the medical committee of the CHRU of Brest.

Among the six residents, five come from the two Ephads in the structure.

The sixth is a patient in the hospital's general surgery department.

"They are essentially asymptomatic," said Eric Stindel, adding that all health professionals had been arrested.

"None has been kept at his post," he said, assuring that all units of this hospital where some 700 people work were functioning normally.

"The workforce has been maintained so that we can ensure continuity of care," he detailed.

The two affected nursing homes closed to visits

Among the doctors, nurses, orderlies and paramedics who tested positive, ten come from the general surgery and general medicine departments, five work in nursing homes, two in emergencies and one in the after-care and rehabilitation service (SSR).

The two affected nursing homes were closed to visitors.

Among the hypotheses put forward to explain this cluster, the contamination of part of the healthcare professionals in their daily life and "a small relaxation of vigilance" of the staff during breaks, argued Eric Stindel.
