Under the slogan: "The world reads from Sharjah", the activities of the 39th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair, organized by the Sharjah Book Authority, will be launched today, with more than 80,000 new titles being presented, in an exceptional book that wins.

The exhibition hosts more than 1,024 publishers and 60 Arab and foreign writers and creators, in a dialogue that opens up the treasures of knowledge and creativity, as the public of literature will be in front of a new chapter in the cultural wedding, which will continue until the 14th of this month at the Sharjah Expo Center.

The exhibition will start this year in an exceptional session for the first time in its history, taking various precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus, as the Sharjah Book Authority announced the organization of all the accompanying exhibition activities "remotely", through its "Sharjah Read" platform.

The authority stressed the need for all visitors to adhere to physical distancing, wear masks, and work on continuous sterilization, and the halls, lobbies and corridors of the exhibition will be sterilized for five hours a day.

In addition, an intelligent electronic system has been devoted to managing and organizing visits to the exhibition and publishing houses, on four periods, during the day, as visitors will be given a "bracelet" of different colors that determines their period of presence in the exhibition, based on their registration through the website Registration.sibf.com, with The possibility of extending their stay in the exhibition, through the site.

This year, Sharjah will host a group of Arab and foreign literary, cultural and intellectual names, as the exhibition will witness the participation of more than 60 Arab and foreign writers and writers from 19 countries, to present 64 cultural and dialogue seminars.

Among the most prominent Arab guests this year are: Wassini Al-Araj, Ahmed Murad, Laila Al-Mutawa, Lina Khoury, Ahmed Al-Rifai, Mashaal Hamad, Najwa Al-Dhibyan, Yasser Akl, Sultan Al-Amimi, Iman Al-Youssef, and others.

Literature and culture audiences will have the opportunity to view more than 80,000 new titles, published by 1024 publishers from 73 countries, by registering through the website sharjahreads.com.

Dialogue sessions

The exhibition is witnessing the organization of eight dialogue sessions in several foreign languages, bringing together an elite of Emirati writers and intellectuals, with European writers and writers from Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Russia, and others, the result of visits and meetings organized by the authority with a number of large cultural institutions around the world.

The authority cooperated with the Ministry of Education to hold special sessions for students, allowing them to meet writers, thinkers, and creators directly, through visual communication programs.

The exhibition organizes a number of virtual workshops specialized in skills and arts presenting media and creative content, as part of the activities of the social media station, which displays its entire program on the "Sharjah Read" platform for audiences of all age groups, by registering at the link: Sharjahreads.com.

In the interest of improving the status of bookcases and their role in building society, the Sharjah Book Authority, in partnership with the American Library Association, is holding the seventh session of the Libraries Conference, from 10 to 12 November, to discuss a main axis, concerned with facing libraries and their secretaries the challenges of the new situation.

Ahead of the start of the 39th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair, the Publishers Conference concluded yesterday, the activities of its tenth session, organized by the Sharjah Book Authority.
