Two people in their 80s picking up walnuts "riding a bear" Niigata Murakami November 2, 16:27

Since April of this year, 16 people have been injured by bears in Niigata prefecture, and one of them has died.

After 9:20 am on the 2nd, the fire department reported to the police that "a person attacked by a bear rushed in."



According to police, two men and women in their 80s were injured by a bear while picking up walnuts in the mountains of Sarusawa, Murakami City.



Of these, the woman is suspected of having a broken middle finger in her left hand and a broken right arm.



The man was injured, such as having his right leg scratched.



After being attacked by a bear, they drove their own car to the fire department, then were taken to the hospital, and the woman told the police that she was "ridden by a bear."



Since April of this year, a total of 16 bears have been attacked in Niigata prefecture, and one of them has died. The prefecture has issued a "bear infestation special warning" to call for strict caution.
