[Explanation] Recently, as the last main cable strand with a length of 1,660 meters crossed the Yangtze River under the traction of a large hoist, it marked the successful completion of the erection of the main cable of the Xintian Yangtze River Bridge, the largest span of the Three Gorges Reservoir.

  As an important component of the bridge, the main cable is a key link in the construction control of the bridge superstructure, and is known as the "backbone" of the suspension bridge.

The two main cables of the Xintian Yangtze River Bridge have a total weight of 7,200 tons and will withstand a pulling force of 27,000 tons.

The main cable of the bridge contains 182 long strands, each weighing about 39 tons, and 12 back cables, each weighing about 10 tons. They are all composed of 127 high-strength galvanized aluminum steel wires with a diameter of 5.3 mm.

  The erection of the main cable plays a pivotal role in the bridge construction process. It is an important process after the construction of the lower structure of the bridge is converted to the construction of the upper structure.

Our main tower is 177.5 meters high, which is equivalent to the height of a 60-story building in our conventional sense.

During the erection of the main cable, we are mainly faced with high safety risks when working at a height of 100 meters. It is difficult to ensure the normal passage of our main channel of the Yangtze River and the high technical standards for cable adjustment at night.

  [Explanation] In the face of construction difficulties such as heavy rope-strand erection tasks, multiple ultra-high-altitude operations, high safety risks, and strict control over the Yangtze River channel, the project construction personnel adopted the cyclical construction mode of The "line reciprocating" traction method is used to complete the traction task of 5 strands every day. Compared with the traditional "single reciprocating" traction method, the operation efficiency is higher, the safety performance is better, and the work efficiency is nearly doubled.

  Next, we are going to work on tightening the cable, as well as the installation of cable clamps and slings. It is expected that the installation of steel box girder will start in January 2021.   [Explanation] Chongqing Wanzhou Xintian Yangtze River Bridge is 1,770 meters in length. It is the largest span bridge currently under construction in Chongqing and the Three Gorges Reservoir area. The main span is 1,020 meters and one spans the river. It is a steel box girder suspension bridge. Construction started in March 2019. Construction is expected to be completed and opened to traffic in June 2022.

Xintian Yangtze River Bridge is a key control project of the national expressway network-Hubei Enshi to Sichuan Guangyuan Expressway Xintian to Gaofeng section. After it is completed and opened to traffic, it will connect the Shanghai-Chengdu Expressway and Yinbai Expressway in one fell swoop, enabling Chongqing to add another bridge. Jiang Da Channel.
