Two company officers, who were charged with asking the bribery to testify in a trial over the corruption case indicted by a member of the House of Representatives Akimoto, admitted that they had been charged in the first trial.

Former company officer Akihito Awaji (54) and company officer Fumihiko Sato (50) have been charged with bribery of an IR / integrated resort facility in July by Tsukasa Akimoto, a member of the House of Representatives. He has been charged with the acquisition of witnesses, etc. for asking a former adviser of a Chinese company on the bribery side to give false testimony in a trial and trying to give him 20 million yen in cash.

At the first trial held at the Tokyo District Court on the 2nd, the two admitted that they were "no doubt" about the indictment.

In a question asked by the accused, Awaji said, "I was told by Representative Akimoto that I had not received a bribe, and I did not doubt it because I trusted him. I thought that the bribe would fall for money, and I asked him to give him the money. ".

He also testified that the 20 million yen remuneration was paid by Representative Akimoto and Defendant Awaji by 10 million yen each.

On the other hand, the prosecution said, "It is an extremely vicious act of obstructing the judiciary. The crime of acquiring witnesses was newly established in 2017, but if the acquisition of witnesses like this is successful, it will be difficult to clarify the truth in the trial and it is illegal. They were sentenced to one year and two months in prison, saying that they were "highly sexual."

In this case, Akimoto was also charged with the acquisition of witnesses, and according to the attorney, Akimoto has denied any involvement.
