Several Sarthe mayors, including the precursor of the commune of Fresnay-sur-Sarthe, published municipal decrees at the end of the week authorizing so-called non-essential businesses to open their doors despite the ban dictated by the government.

Initiatives that Patrick Dallennes, the prefect of Sarthe does not approve of at all.

The latter therefore announces that it has seized the administrative court of Nantes to obtain their annulment as soon as possible.

"Not the competence to take such measures"

According to the prefect, these orders are illegal, "the mayors do not have the competence to take such measures".

They derogate from the decree of October 29, 2020 establishing a period of confinement justified by "the health situation" and "the imperative need to protect the populations".

The prefect, who has a good chance of being followed by the administrative court, also calls on traders "to be responsible and to respect the law".

Otherwise, "fines will be imposed," he says.
