The employers want to relax the confinement.

The Medef will make proposals to the government to reopen businesses considered "non-essential", said Sunday on France Inter the vice-president and spokesperson for the employers' organization, Dominique Carlac'h.

"There is a real feeling of injustice," said Dominique Carlac'h.

“We make Amazon's bed and it kills the small business (…) Giving gifts downstairs was likely to revitalize the activity.

Making Christmas presents on Amazon is not a citizen and is the key to job losses on French soil ”.

Proposals within 15 days

"We will propose to the government, in the next 15 days, how it is possible to combine the pursuit of economic activity with the pandemic," said Dominique Carlac'h.

The representatives of the entrepreneurs all fear that this second confinement, the final duration of which remains uncertain, will deliver the final blow to establishments already weakened, such as bookstores, clothing or toy stores.

And this despite an easing compared to the containment of the spring, with the already existing possibility of opening to allow customers to withdraw their orders, or to make deliveries.

Showdown between mayors and prefects

“When we talk about solidarity, everyone is essential” and “when we go to the small business downstairs from home, we wait outside, we put on our mask”, continued the vice-president of Medef, stressing that nor should it be opposed to small shops supermarkets, which "make it possible to supply the French, especially in the provinces".

The French chambers of commerce and one of the main federations of traders asked the authorities on Saturday to accept an opening by appointment of all small shops.

Since the announcement of the reconfinement Thursday, several mayors have also authorized by decree the opening of shops.

But several prefectures very quickly asked the mayors in question to withdraw their “illegal” decree.
