The European Parliament has just adopted the broad outlines of the new Common Agricultural Policy, better known as the “CAP”.
With nearly 400 billion euros over 7 years, it represents the largest budget of the European Union.
Publicity
This new CAP (2021/2027) had to be greener to face the climate ambitions of the EU: carbon neutrality in 2050 but also to maintain biodiversity and offer citizens healthier food.
Does the new CAP meet these objectives?
Yes for the large agricultural unions close to the agro-industry, no for environmentalists and organic producers.
Towards greener European agriculture or not?
