Alexander Vedernikov joined the Royal Theater in 2016. Prior to that, he had worked for the French Symphony Orchestra Orchester de Paris and the British BBC Symphony Orchestra.

Vedernikov would have conducted Beethoven's Ninth Symphony on Friday night - and according to John Fulljames, opera director at the Royal Theater, the concert will also be performed as planned.

- Alexander would have conducted Beethoven's Ninth Symphony tonight - and we will perform, but with a new conductor.

According to the Royal Theatre's opera director, the evening's concert will also be dedicated to Alexander Vedernikov's memory.
